Atty. Edward James A. Dy Buco is one of the recent appointed government officials of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group of Bureau of Customs, one of BOC’s subgroups responsible for the Bureau’s successful revenue collection.
Atty. Dy Buco, a Visayan and a native of Culasi, Antique finished his Juris Doctor degree at the Ateneo de Manila University Law School. He passed the Bar Examination in 1994 and rendered public service as Provincial Board Member in his hometown from 1995-1998. After his short stint as public servant, he became the managing partner of his own firm, the Mosquera-Dy Buco Law Office. He also taught law at the Mindanao State University for three years. From 2002 to 2014, he had served in various positions in Bureau of Customs. He became the Deputy Collector for Operations of the Port of Davao for 2 years. He was also named Officer-in-Charge of the same District and chiefs of different offices in Cebu and Davao. After, his 12 years of service in BOC, he went back into private practice and lives in Mandaue City, Cebu with his wife and children. In his free time, he writes songs and plays the saxophone. He is also the author of the book “Resist: Make a Difference”, an anti-corruption book which expressed his advocacy for good governance.
